Kurt Cobain by Manuel Rivera

What happened to the lead singer of Nirvana. Kurt Cobain? “She failed to mention initially that Kurt had been seen at their Lake Washington house on Saturday morning, April 2nd, by Cali, the male nanny who was living at the Cobain residence. This being the last person who had seen him before his death (Grant). As some speculation arises, conspiracy theories emerge:

1.      Did Kurt Cobain kill himself?

2.      Was Courtney the perpetrator for his demise?

Let’s examine the conspiracy theories but the likelihood being Courtney Love’s involvement, which lead to his perish.
A survey was taken out of twenty people to determine what conspiracy theory the majority of the general public believed in about Mr.Cobain. The results were inconclusive: 50% said yes to the involvement of Courtney Love while the other 50% said he conspired to his own death. The survey proves that half of the general public believe Courtney Love did it, while the other half believe Kurt committed suicide.

Kurt Donald Cobain was born in Hoquiam, Washington on Feb. 20, 1967 (Rolling Stone). Growing up was a little difficult for Cobain, after the separation of his parents at the age of nine (Editors). Both him and his sister Kim, had to deal with the excruciating yelling that occurred in the household. That later then developed to a divorce (1). After their separation Cobain started to express some rebellious tendencies, as would anyone who has ever had to go through that.

Through all that, music seemed to be his only outlet. He lived in a town where choosing music over sports was frowned-upon, eventually around his senior year he decided to drop out, and pursue his career as a musician (1). Among all that he started a band with his best friend, and the two were unstoppable, but it was not until the drummer had joined that they made a big hit with their record label DGC (Rolling Stone). As the introvertness of Kurt Cobain grew, so did his fame, which only made matters worse. That didn’t stop Cobain from expressing the way he feels, he advocated for all the troubled teens, like himself, and other minorities of this social stigma (1). With such success it took a toll on Cobain, he began to experiment with drugs specifically heroin. Which later intensified with the upbringing of his soon to be wife Courtney Love.

They had gotten pregnant and all seemed to be up in the world, until Cobain leaked that him and his wife had been doing drugs, which later lead to child services coming in and taking their precious daughter Frances Bean Cobain (1).

Years had past and Nirvana was still in the uprising, but things got too hard for Cobain, he had to check himself into a rehabilitation facility. He decided to leave early from his treatments, and decided to go back to Seattle. He ran into his old buddy and asked if he could purchase a shotgun for him. Dylan Carlson (old buddy), agreed because he knew Kurt, and he also knew that his best friend wouldn’t want to harm himself. He knew that his friend was a happy-go-lucky type of guy, and never had any worries of his mental status (Soaked in Bleach). Couple of days had gone by, and Cobain had gone missing.

It was not until April 8th, that the electrician who was called early that week for maintenance discovered his body with self-inflicted gunshot wound. His death was mourned, but his musical legacy lived on.

Kurt Cobain’s case still remains as a mystery for we will never really know what had happened. The leader singer of Nirvana may never get to see his precious Frances(daughter) grow up, but the certain conspiracy theories remain, such as:

  1. Did Kurt Cobain kill himself?
  2. Was Courtney the perpetrator for his demise?

Although questionable actions point to Courtney Love as Kurt Cobain’s killer, the perplexity of it all is that we will really never know what had happened to him in that greenhouse.
